Each September we celebrate the vision of our Founder, William Whiteley on the weekend closest to his birthday (29 September) and use it as an opportunity to also celebrate those residents who contribute most to our community here at Whiteley Village and who give their time so generously to support their fellow residents. We award three cups to beneficiaries: two following a vote by their fellow residents and the third cup which is awarded by our Trustees.
A key theme for this year’s awards was challenging each other to consider not what our communities can do for us but what we can do for our communities. At our Founder’s Day event, Trust CEO, Rachel Hill said: “As we award the annual cups to those villagers who have been voted by you all as making outstanding contributions to village life and thank them for their service, we can see that we can all play a role in making this a great community and loving our neighbours. These people have gone the extra mile and there will of course be many more of you out there, who quietly and under the radar are doing the same and to you I say thank you too. We may not be able to solve all the problems we are facing in the wider society and at Whiteley today, but as that large supermarket says ‘every little helps!” You can read more about our cup winnders and 2022 Founder’s Day celebrations here
