This year, Founder's Day - which takes place on or near our Founder William Whiteley's birthday - took place on Friday 26th September. It was attended by over 200 residents, volunteers, Trustees and employees filling out the Clubhouse, conservatory, terrace and gazebo area lining the edge of the woods.
Arrival drinks were served and everyone could help themselves to drinks, food from the barbeque and enjoy the live music. Speeches were given from Chief Executive Amina Graham, WVRC Chairman Barry Nicolle, a blessing from Carol Hartogh and finally some words from the Chair of the Trustees, Mark Henderson who also gave the award, the William Whiteley Cup.
This year there were two joint winners. Residents and employees were asked to vote for the resident who “brings a friendly, inclusive spirit to everything they do and always strives to make a positive difference in the community and to the residents of Whiteley Village." Congratulations to Beryl Davies and Chris Goldsmith who both received the most votes.
