The Whiteley Homes Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of three new Trustees to its Board, who will bring new insights and expertise to the leadership of one of Surrey’s oldest charities. The announcement is especially timely coming during Trustees’ Week – an annual event to showcase the vital work that almost one million volunteer trustees do for the voluntary and community sector across the UK.
Rod Bennion OBE, Chairman said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Julienne Meyer CBE, Ali Kennedy and Robbie Young, and I am sure all our residents and staff will join me in welcoming them to Whiteley.
“Last year we also appointed Kate Beauchamp (Deputy Chair) and Mark Henderson. All were recruited through an open and rigorous selection process and from a wide group of applicants.
“When we recruit, we look for a wide and balanced set of skill sets in the Trustee body to enable the Board to govern the Trust well and ensure that we make the best strategic decisions to deliver the Objects of The Whiteley Homes Trust charity and ensure its’ viability. The Board sets the strategic direction of the Trust and holds the Executive (Leadership Team) to account for its’ delivery.
“Over the last 18 months we have said goodbye and a big thank you to four long serving trustees: Mike Sadler, Mike Tolley, Duncan Straughen and Michael Pomery, and also to Liz Peace CBE, who stood down after her initial three-year term for business reasons. We thank them all for their dedication and service to the Trust.”
Trustees receive no remuneration and serve for three years which can be renewed twice subject to performance, up to a maximum of nine years. More information about our new Trustees and all the other members of our Board can be found here.
