The benefits of participation

When individuals participate in community activities, they build connections, feel valued and develop a sense of shared identity and purpose.

Creating opportunities for social interaction, shared experiences and mutual support is a crucial part of the cohesive community spirit at Whiteley. Our Community Team and volunteers strive to ensure as many residents as possible have access to these opportunities.

As well as the physical benefits of being more active, there are underlying cognitive and mental health benefits which have a positive impact on a person's welfare. They include:

  • Increased life satisfaction
  • Opportunities for growth
  • Learning new skills
  • Access to support
  • Greater independence

There is a resident run activities group that villagers have access to which covers a wide variety of games, crafts, sports, clubs and societies to join.
